Made in the Fujigen factory in Japan, which made all the Ibanez guitars at the time, and sold at Hessy's music shop in Liverpool, this lawsuit-era SG Custom plays even better than it looks.

Lawsuit guitars are high-quality copies of popular American brand name guitars (like Fender and Gibson) produced by Japanese companies in the 1970s. These Japanese lawsuit guitars are of legendary quality and are highly sought after. This SG Custom copy is no different. The build quality is great and compares favourably to its far more expensive American cousin.

Our favourite aspect of this awesome instrument though is that it retains a little piece of history on the back of the headstock. The gold sticker shows the guitar to have been sold at Frank Hessy's Ltd in Liverpool where John Lennon bought his first acoustic guitar. Hessy's was located at 62 Stanley Street, at the corner of Whitechapel, in Liverpool. The guitar was really purchased by his Aunt Mimi for the sum of 17 pounds in 1957. Lennon also modified his Rickenbacker 325 by replacing its vibrato unit while he and a friend visited the store.

This fantastic instrument is in very good condition throughout. There are plenty of signs of use with lots of dings, wear and signs of age. It is though all original and there are no breaks, cracks or repairs. It comes in a basic gig bag.

Far Out Guitars provide a 14 day no-quibble return policy, so if you don't get on with your new guitar you can return it for a full refund.

You can come and play the guitar at our premises in Marple, Cheshire by appointment only.
