The SF-1000 is the top of the range of Super Flighters. As such it comes with all the bells and whistles.
Known to be one of the most versatile electric guitars that Yamaha ever made, the SF-1000 really does support the nickname of “Les Paul Killer” is respect of the specs it offers. The materials used are similar to the SF-700; the body is made from a combination of maple and alder and has a set, maple neck. The SF-1000 though has an ebony fretboard, which makes for a much smoother playing experience as well as a snappier sound. It also features a superior finish and gold hardware.
The real standout features on the SF-1000 are the pickups and bi-sound system. Unlike the other two first generation models the SF1000 is the only one to be fitted with Yamaha’s F-I humbuckers which have a slighter higher output and a brighter, smoother sound. The bi-sound system, also known as a coil tap, is excellent in this guitar as Yamaha used these pickups specifically with this feature in mind.
It is in very good condition throughout. The electrics are all spot on and everything works as it should. There are a fair few dings to the body and neck which are most noticeable on the back of the body. The frets are in great shape. It is all original and there are no breaks, cracks or repairs.
Comes in a vintage Hiscox case.
