1989 Gordon Smith GS1 Thin Natural, Made in Manchester, England
This is a guitar with some serious mojo!
Made at Gordon Smith's factory in Partington, Manchester in 1989, this rock and roll monster has seen some action! We find that the best playing vintage guitars tend to be loved and therefore played a lot, and this is certainly the case here. This is an absolute beauty to play. It feels and sounds terrific. Exactly what you'd want from a lightweight, stripped down rock and roll beast like this.
As you would expect from a guitar made in the UK, the build quality is fantastic. Everything is 100% original, all works exactly as it should and it is set up and ready to do its thing for many years to come.
There are plenty of nicks, dings, blemishes and patches of wear. There are however no breaks, cracks or repairs. It is structurally spot on.
The GS1 is a UK punk rock classic. Guitarists known to have used Gordon Smith guitars include:
- Billy Bragg
- Dee Dee Ramone
- Nicky Garrett of UK Subs
- Peter Shelley of The Buzzcocks
- John Squire
- James Dean Bradfield of Manic Street Preachers
- Midge Ure
