Fender Thinline Jaguar, FSR Limited Edition, MIJ, 2012, Sunburst
Fender Thinline Jaguar, FSR Limited Edition, MIJ, 2012, Sunburst
Without doubt one of the best looking guitars we have ever seen. This limited edition made-in-Japan Fender was issued as part of the 50th Anniversary of the Jaguar model. Similar to the Thinline Tele of the early '70s, this Jag featured a semi-hollow body with an F-hole on the upper bout.
These rare Made In Japan Jaguars were made in very limited numbers of 250 in 3-colour sunbursts and 250 in black. When they first came out in 2012 times were very different and Fender struggled to shift them! Since then the popularity of offset guitars has boomed and they have become incredibly valuable on the used market, with prices far exceeding the original retail price, giving them an almost mythical status.
The guitar has a very premium feel with binding everywhere. The woodgrain is quite spectacular on this model, both front and back.
This guitar is in fantastic condition throughout. There are only very minor signs of use. There is a ding and faint mark to the side of the body, bottom side, which is highlighted in the 11th photo. The frets are in very good shape and there are no breaks, cracks or repairs.
The bridge has been upgraded to a Staytrem which is a big upgrade over the stock bridge as it ensures far greater stability and sustain. Other than that it is entirely original. It comes in an excellent condition Freestyle FCGW-JAG hard case, and with the tremolo bar.
Notable Jaguar Players: Kurt Cobain, Johnny Marr
