The Melody Maker first went into production in 1959, following the successful single- and double-cut Junior, TV and Specials. Five decades after it first went into production, Gibson relaunched the Melody Maker in 2007.

This 2008 model is a stripped down rock monster! The build quality is evidently excellent, and it sounds immense.

Retaining a single-cutaway outline, but with a thinner body and a narrower headstock, the Melody Maker uses a single-coil pickup mounted with its two controls and output jack on the scratchplate. It's not as hot or vicious as the Junior, but still carries that signature Gibson sound and it can handle a lot of styles from ringing sixties clean spank to dirty riffage.

The condition is very good. It has been played, so there are some signs of use. Most noticeably there is some wear to the finish on the neck at the cowboy chord area. There are a few nicks and dings, but nothing substantial. The tuners have been upgraded which now give the guitar far better tuning stability. The volume and tone have been changed to speed knobs, which we think look rather snazzy on the Melody Maker.
