The incredible 1961 Reissue SG was only available in Ebony in the UK in 2022 from one retailer, Peach Guitars. It is therefore very rare that these come to market.
The guitar is in excellent condition. There are no breaks, cracks or repairs. It is 100% original. No dings or significant scratches. There is minor playwear only and little to distinguish it from a new instrument.
In 1961, the Les Paul was put on hold and an all new design was developed, resulting in what we now know as the SG or "Solid Guitar". Returning to its classic design, responsible for its relevance and embrace by the guitar world, comes the SG Standard '61.
The neck profile of a guitar is greatly important to how it feels when playing. The Slim Taper shape on this model offers comfort for the player and gives access to the higher frets allowing you to reach all the way to the top of the fretboard when you're rocking out! However, this is a Gibson after all, although named 'Slim Taper' there is still plenty to grab on to.
Gibson’s '60s Burstbucker pickups closely resemble the legendary tones of the classic era. They’re designed to faithfully recreate the PAF sound in a modern form. Their unbalanced coils give them the top-end bite and punchy tone.
The Rosewood fingerboard is a mainstay throughout the Standard range. Not much can beat the feeling of a beautiful, grainy Rosewood for effortless playing on the 22 rolled frets.
The Graph Tech nut and Grover tuners combination ensures stable tuning so you can go wild with bends, vibrato and aggressive playing. Gibson have equipped the SG with a super sturdy Tune-O-Matic bridge and an aluminium stopbar. No rusting, easy to clean and extreme comfort for the picking hand.
The SG is also still as light as ever. Great for high-octane live shows or comfortable playing for hours on end at home.
